Happy new year aww wait!!

Hello there,

Well I hope you had a lovely time over the festive period it feels weird and probably is as now it is February and it was last year, although I have seen people writing about how long January has been.. not for me I feel the 1st month has flown in, it could be that I’ve been so busy finishing up the last of my customers commissions and moving all my stuff out of Crownpoint studios that I ran past my leave day by 9 days… oops :) Not like me to be late (said no one ever who knows me) its not till your moving you realise … I’ve got a lot of stuff… A lot.

As lucky as I have been to have had some of the nicest customers and get to work on some interesting items. I am so excited to be now working on my own colourful creations with a container overloaded with lots of interesting pieces and lots & lots of colourful fabrics that I’ve had to start planning on what I’m going to work on next, its my version of a kid in a sweetie shop.

Usually when I see a piece of furniture I start to think and visuliase of the colour of fabric or the colour of paint or both ha!! one thing is for sure its always going to be something bright and colourful. Once I start working on piece of furniture, I start to think what their name will be when they are complete.. yeah I like to give my finished furniture a name, and Yeah I’m that kinda crazy but I’m sure we are all a little crazy in our own way. (I hope) I like that each piece has a name so when I’m referring to friends or family I’ll say yeah Lucille or Penelope instead of the yellow one or the purple one, it also makes a wee bit more fun. I have lots of ideas so really looking forward to adding new pieces and names to the shop so watch this space : )

I’ve already started adding more finished pieces to the shop you can check them out here and their names ha!!, these are definitely for you if you looking for something a little different for your home. If you want to start off small you can add a little colour with some of our new colourful cushions or lampshades.

With more chairs and furniture getting added very very soon and I might be biased but they have some fantastic names so stay tuned.

Until next time

The time has come!!

Hello,

Well I decided to name this blog, the time has come as I’ve made some decisions on the way I want Turnstyle13 and Turnstyle13 designs to go.I’ve

I’ve started to update the website that has been getting slightly neglected. I removed our stock page a few weeks ago as I think I knew then the direction I wanted to go, and that was back.

Dad helping me out at storage

Dad helping me out at storage

Yip!! back sounds mad as you’re meant to move forward and up in business but I believe that’s what I am doing. In any business group I’ve been in they always asked Why Did you start? and What was your reason for starting a business?, and that’s why I’m going back to the start as my big why was finding beautiful furniture that was in auctions, charity shops, given to me or even rescued out a skip. Funnily growing up you would be called a midgey raker for that. So I guess I’m a professional midgey raker : ).

The love for furniture and seeing the potential in unloved pieces and turning them into colourful interiors for your home, is the reason I’m going back to the start.

I made the decision to stop taking on work and commissions from customers eeekkk!! I said it.

I wanted to go back to create our own beautiful furniture and interiors to sell. I have been very lucky and feel grateful to have some of the most amazing customers, but while working on their furniture I have been neglecting my own container of furniture that is in desperate need of having a makeover.

I’ve add a shop to our own website which I’m going to be adding more furniture to as well as some interiors for you to buy to add a little colour to your home, I’ll also be probably doing a few markets to show our furniture, which brings me on to something else…

Crownpoint studios are having their own first pop market and yes!! its a Christmas one its 8th & 9th December 10am - 4pm so if you looking to buy from small business and shop local then come check it out.

As I’m going back to the start this means giving up my workshop at Crownpoint. I’m sad to leave the building as its an interesting building, I have been really lucky to have met and built some amazing friendships that created a great creative community which I’ll always be part of.

Some might look at my choices as crazy as I’m giving up paid work to take a chance on selling my own furniture. But that’s ok as I know that this isn’t the end… Its only the beginning ; )

Until next time

Its been a while!!

Hello its been a while : )

So we are in to the second month of 2018 after what felt like 3 months of January, and looking through my blog posts its been four months since I have written a blog : (

Although that's gonna change this year as I am determined to get at least one blog done per month just to keep you updated in all that is happening at Turnstyle13 I say you all thanks for reading mum (High five*).

Well its been a busy start to the year with a few jobs in the workshop as well as a few sales. Happy days : ) With more of our furniture getting the finishing touches and added to the shop very soon. So if you are looking for a piece of furniture that is a little different, a little unique, a little special then stay tuned and watch this space as these will be a one off and once they are gone they are gone!!!

I have also updated the stock page, instead of adding new pieces, I have took some away. I decided to do this as I really want to focus on turning these pieces of furniture into my magical creations. I have also been in talks with some amazing ladies about collaborations one of these ladies is the beautiful talented textile designer Beth Farmer, from B-line studios. We both have similar ideas on colours and styles. Exciting times ahead.

bullet journal

So this year my sister got me a bullet journal to get my life and business more organised, all I'm gonna say is wow!! if you look up some bullet journal videos or follow some bullet journal hashtags on Instagram they are amazing. But it does make your OCD and creativity go through the roof. So 2018 its definitely my year to be getting s**t done and shine.

                           Until march see you soon!!

This week i got the keys, and moved into a new workshop aaaahhhh!!! excited                              still got a bit sort out and move about so should be settled in for Saturday.

Got two jobs to start this week for two lovely customers; the first is four country style dining chairs can't wait to show you what these will look like got some amazing bright colours for these. The second is a vintage dining table that's in need of some TLC and a new colour so this will be stripped back.

The cocktail chair is coming along nicely, finished the piping and buttons... just to finish applying the fabric, shes going to be a little cracker.

I picked up some more stock last week a little retro chest of drawers and a stunning vinyl to go with it, also a vintage dressing table got lots of ideas for this piece stay tuned for that.

Catch up!!

Hello I'm back!! :)

Missed last weeks blog entry but back this week with more jobs completed and new ones starting.

I recently finished a couch repair for a lovely customer in the west end, the couch was a modern style with the inside frame crumbling causing the metal foot to fall off. This involved building a small frame for inside to create strength to allow the foot to be re-attached, finished off with new bottom cloth.

I also completed the dining table to go with the six dining chairs from the previous week. This extending table needed to be colour matched, for this the full table was scraped back and stained to blend in with the colour already on the legs. The table was then finished off with a wax oil in clear satin.

I've started working on two of my own pieces - The retro cocktail chair & A two seater mid century Parker knoll got amazing fabrics for these pieces - stay tuned for them they will be available to buy. (Hoping to get a shop on the website this week)

Also got some lovely new stock coming cant wait to show you. :)

Whats new!!

Hello,

So I've got a few things that's been happening and few things coming up!! I'll try to keep it short... I'll try. :)

Last week I had two jobs on, the first job started at the circus, no not the ring master or the trapeze or even a clown. I had been asked to repair some scratches on some table tops, after being colour matched and stained the tops were polished and waxed. After finishing at the circus it was on to the second job, this involved repairing and restoring six dining chairs these were in need of some touch up with colour and finished to a high shine with a lovely french polish. Dropped off to happy customer, Happy days.

I'm now a stockist of the beautiful fabric from Jess & Jules, I can't wait to start using their stunning fabrics, having ordered the gorgeous blue triangles & diamonds and tropicalia for some bespoke custom pieces coming soon... stay tuned!!!

In the coming week I will be adding a shop section to my website as well as to my Facebook page, for this I will be having a 10% off on selected items with also lots of new pieces being added.. eeekk!! excited
